Sensual. Chic. A little bit french. It’s the new album “Universal Language” by Silky Steps
The Estonian Chic is born! The new class of disco, funk and soul is in session thanks to Silky Steps and their latest release. “Universal Language” is out now via record label of the year Funk Embassy. Available both on vinyl and digitally, the LP includes Robert Linna, MC Roki and Rahel among other musical guests. True to its name, the music can be enjoyed in a variety of ways, says producer Ivo Leesar: There’s songs to soundtrack your cruise to the sunset; to dance eyes closed in a dark corner of the club; babymakers to listen between the sheets; as well as tracks for those experiencing heartache.”
The 10-track “Universal Language” was preceded by 3 singles during the Spring. Positive feedback and radio support has been omnipresent, most prominently “Fly, Goodbye” was pickede up by Cerys Matthews at BBC 6. Silky Steps remains humble in their expectations, though. As guitarist and album tastemaker Siim Siimer says: ”Every summer there are tracks that boom among music lover. If at least one track brings people the kind of joy and freshness we’ve enjoyed before, we’re happy!”
