Mikk Kaasik is a young jazz pianist from Estonia. In August 2024, he released his first album “Take One”, on which he wrote all the songs himself. Mikk Kaasik’s music has been described as “full of life and raw energy”.
Mikk has studied the piano from a young age, but his love for jazz was confirmed at the age of 17, when he started studying at the Eller music school under Jürmo Eespere. From there, this passion has deepened, and even now Kaasik is already writing material for his second album. He considers Cory Wong, Ray Thistlethwaythe, and Winton Kelly to be his biggest role models.
Young Estonian jazz pianist and composer Mikk Kaasik received the prestigious Young Jazz Talent Award from the Estonian Jazz Association in 2025. He is known for his energetic and raw sound, combining jazz, fusion and funk.
Main achievements and activities:
- Young Jazz Talent 2025: Winning the award confirmed his place in the Estonian jazz scene.
- Debut album “Take One”: A solo album released in August 2024, featuring his own compositions, including “Rapid Resonance”, which won the Uno Naissoo composition competition.
