We’re celebrating 5 years of funk-soul-disco affairs at the Embassy with our first ever funk-festival! This revolution will be televised via Telia, but also be visible for free on our website. Live streamed from Narva, Vaba Lava – this 3,5h music show is plump with with the Funk Embassy juice. We’re coming at you wherever you are – booties shaken, souls stirred!

We can’t celebrate together with people at the moment, so the next best thing is to broadcast an awesome TV party from the up-and-coming cultural hot-spot of Ida-Virumaa that the whole world can be a part of,” said Henrik Ehte, the ambassador and founder of Estonian Funk Embassy.

The border-town Narva has become a focal point for cultural integration in Estonia with festivals such as Station Narva and venues like Art Club Ro-Ro, Vaba Lava and Jõhvi Concert Hall attracting music and art fans from across the country and further. The festival is Funk Embassy’s contribution in the form of Estonia’s first ever funk festival. It also aims to bring attention to Ida-Virumaa, the county that has been hit especially hard by Covid measures. “Funk Embassy has always stood for bringing people closer together with music. In times when we can’t do it physically, it is still crucial to feel the sense of community, even on a spiritual level. This is our way of bringing the border-county nearer to everyone by a 3.5 hours long musical program with live bands, guests and fun sketches.

The stage will host a range of Funk Embassy’s finest talent – Lexsoul Dancemachine, Rita Ray, Siim Aimla and his Funk Band and The Motown Sound. A special addition to the program is the performance by Smoke’n’Smile – a group that was last active 15 years ago from the local region Sillamäe. “Roman Ananjev recorded some unbelievable stuff in the beginning of the noughties. It’s resurfaced now – a Detroit label released a single of theirs, and a compilation of their works is available on Bandcamp”.

The evening is hosted by Jüri Muttika who will be interviewing a range of local cultural life innovators and leaders. In between performers, humorous sketches with Gameboy Tetris keep the audiences entertained.
